WARRIORS coach Ian Gorowa could be making a sentimental return to South Africa when he guides Zimbabwe in a proposed friendly international against Bafana Bafana next month.Gorowa, who faces an uphill task this afternoon as Zimbabwe seek to edge Zambia at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola in an African Nations Championship qualifier, could be leading the Warriors in a friendly international in Johannesburg on September 10.

The tie will come just two days after the Warriors would have engaged Mozambique in a dead rubber 2014 World Cup, Group G, African qualifier in Harare.

South Africa would have played Botswana in the same competition at the Moses Mabhidha Stadium in Durban, three days earlier.
Yesterday Safa confirmed the tie through their official Twitter account stating, “Bafana will play Zimbabwe in an international friendly in SA on 10 September 2013.

“Venue tbc.” Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela yesterday said they would be working out the itinerary after the Mozambique game.

“South Africa have confirmed they will host us and we should be flying to play them on September 10.
“However, we will work out the finer details later,” said Gwesela.

Although the tie will be a friendly international, there will be more at stake in the Limpopo Derby as Gordon Igesund’s men lost in their last meeting.

Zimbabwe last played South Africa at Rufaro in November with the Warriors, then under Norman Mapeza, coming from behind to win 2-1.

Bradley Grobler thrust the South Africans ahead in the evening but Knowledge Musona, who was based in Germany, then scored a second half brace.

Back then Pitso Mosimane was head coach for Bafana Bafana while Mapeza took charge of the Zimbabwe dressing room.
It would be like a homecoming show for Gorowa, who played in South Africa and also coached there at Ajax Cape Town, Moroka Swallows and Mamelodi Sundowns.
