THE Safari Industry continues to propel Zimbabwe onto the global tourism stage, underpinning the country’s recent recognition as Forbes’ World’s Number One Must-Visit Destination for 2025.
Officiating at The Safari Show in Harare on Saturday, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi said the Nature and Wildlife Cluster remains the backbone of Zimbabwe’s tourism performance.
She noted that the cluster contributes nearly 80 percent of the tourism economy, making it the nation’s strongest-performing segment.
Minister Rwodzi said the steady rise in international arrivals demonstrates the sector’s resilience, professionalism and commitment to continually improving safari experiences.
In a statement, the ministry said, “She highlighted the strategic importance of Safari within Zimbabwe’s Nature and Wildlife Cluster, the country’s best-performing Tourism cluster, which contributes nearly 80 percent of Zimbabwe’s Tourism economy.”
The ministry added that the Minister “applauded the organisers for successfully bringing together the entire Safari value chain in a unified platform that strengthens collaboration, enhances visibility and drives sector-wide innovation.”
Minister Rwodzi also underscored that sustainable tourism has become a central pillar for Zimbabwe’s future tourism growth.
As a Committee Member on Sustainable Tourism under UN Tourism, Zimbabwe is strengthening its continental leadership in conservation-driven development.
The Minister also stressed that the country is leveraging the Nature and Wildlife Cluster to develop tourism products that attract visitors while protecting ecosystems for future generations.
The statement further noted, “The Minister also reaffirmed Government support continues through President Mnangagwa’s Whole-of-Government Approach, addressing key enablers such as rebates and facilitation to boost competitiveness.”
