THE Zanu-PF Secretary for Legal Affairs, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, has called on Zimbabweans to come out in large numbers to vote for President Mugabe and the revolutionary party in the 31 July harmonised elections to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and heritage.
Addressing close to 3 000 Zanu-PF supporters in Lalapanzi on Sunday, Cde Mnangagwa said voting for President Mugabe and Zanu-PF candidates would terminate the ineffective inclusive Government that has stifled development.

“In 2008, many people did not come out to vote in their numbers as expected. They told themselves it was obvious Zanu-PF was going to win. This resulted in some seats going to the two MDCs and eventually we had a three-headed Government. Such an arrangement does not work. There is no homestead that is led by three men. We only have one father, one mother and a child or children. If there are more fathers in one homestead, then disaster follows. We can bring to an end such a set up when we all go out to the polls in our numbers on 31 July to vote for President Mugabe and Zanu-PF,” he said.

Cde Mnangagwa, who is also the Minister of Defence, said Zimbabwe’s resources were for Zimbabweans.
He said the West and its allies were desperate to remove President Mugabe and Zanu-PF from power to gain control of Zimbabwe’s resources.
“Zimbabwe is a sovereign State and its people have an obligation to jealously guard their independence and heritage. We want all the forests, minerals and all the natural resources. We are faced with the battle of taking back our resources on 31 July. We cannot have a situation where whites come from their distant countries to take our resources. If we happen to go to their countries to take their resources, they should chase us away.

“Tsvangirai is being used by whites. After the land reform, Britain’s Labour and Conservative parties created their own puppet party, MDC-T, led by Tsvangirai. The whites do not want President Mugabe in power because he blocked them from doing as they please in Zimbabwe,” said Cde Mnangagwa.

He said Britain and its allies should stop dictating to Zimbabwe by telling it what to do with its natural resources.
Cde Mnangagwa said the 31 July elections were a war cry in defence of the country and its resources.

“Let us all go to the polls early in the morning and vote for President Mugabe, Cde Mnangagwa and other Zanu-PF National Assembly candidates. Let this be a top priority that day. We can only defend our heritage by voting for President Mugabe and Zanu-PF,” said Cde Mnangagwa.
Zanu PF, Cde Mnangagwa said, remained committed to the total empowerment of Zimbabweans through land reform and indigenisation of the economy.

He said Zimbabwe’s rural communities were developing at a fast pace owing to the Community Share Ownership Schemes introduced by President Mugabe two years ago.

Cde Mnangagwa said President Mugabe wanted all Zimbabweans to totally control and benefit from their natural resources.
“If we cannot mine them, we would rather leave them underground. Don’t surrender your inheritance to foreigners when you, the owners, need them. You are the owners of the resources, whether you like it or not. Zimbabwe inhaka yemadzitateguru edu yatakapiwa kuti tiichengetedze. It came through a protracted war of independence. Our gallant sons and daughters lost their lives in the struggle for liberation. We must not forget our fallen heroes who selflessly dedicated their lives to free the nation. Zanu-PF is the only party in the country that has relentlessly fought for the interest of the people and our independence,” he said.

Cde Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe has competent engineers and other skilled persons to run its mining companies, construct roads and other key infrastructure.

He said Zimbabweans should deal with Mr Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T with finality in the forthcoming harmonised elections.
“This is the time to send a message to the Western imperialists and the rest of the world that Zimbabwe is for Zimbabweans and we are a sovereign State. Tsvangirai believes that Zimbabweans are not capable of utilising their own resources. He wants foreigners to come and exploit our resources.

“Saka ndati endai munoti pana VaMugabe tsepete, maMembers of Parliament eZanu-PF tsepete, macouncillors tsepete (go and vote for President Mugabe, Zanu-PF candidates for the house of assembly and its councillors),” he said.

He urged the people of the Midlands to heed the President’s call to vote in peace.
