LONDON. — Bacary Sagna has decided to quit Arsenal this summer – and looks set to join Manchester United or rivals City. The France international right-back has been left disappointed and angry with the Gunners’ failure to reward him with a new deal. He is out of contract at the end of the season and – despite interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Galatasaray – wants to stay in the English Premier League.
The North Londoners offered Sagna (31) a two-year extension of his current contract worth £75 000 – a rise of £15 000 on his current pay. But he wants three years at £100 000, plus a signing-on fee.
He has had big offers from abroad, including Inter Milan, who were willing to pay £90 000 a week for three years.
Arsene Wenger insists it is up to Sagna whether or not he stays at Arsenal. The French right-back’s contract expires in June and he is thought to be considering his options amid reported interest from Manchester City, Manchester United and Inter Milan. But Wenger has made it clear he will not force negotiations. — Sky Sports/Daily Star.
