adminMONROEVILLE, Pa. — The Salvation Army has returned a $10,000 gold-and-diamond ring to a Pittsburgh-area woman who accidentally dropped it into a donation kettle.Lisa Hawkins tells KDKA-TV she stopped to Christmas shop Tuesday and unknowingly scooped up the ring when she grabbed some change out of her purse. Hawkins was planning to get it re-sized along with some other rings.
The ring was a 10th anniversary gift 24 years ago. Hawkins says she immediately wondered if she had tossed it in the kettle when she got home and found it missing.
The television station learned that volunteers found the ring and put the Murrysville woman in touch with them Wednesday.
Volunteer Chris Blessing says people accidentally donate all kinds of things including buttons, pocket lint, and game tokens for children’s pizza place Chuck E. Cheese. – AP.
