Saturday is for shopping and fashion is for everyday.It is comforting to note that we are not the only ones who still need to get our act together when it comes to hosting events. In fact all awards have their good and bad moments which is why some bright soul came up with the idea of worst dressed instead of just concentrating on the best dressed.South Africa had its fair share of disaster during the recently held South Africa Music Awards (SAMA) held at the Sun City Superbowl last Monday.

The fashion, or rather lack thereof, at this year’s SAMA, left some fashion pundits perplexed.

By the way don’t dig deep if you don’t know how strong your hoe is. I mean many complained have said we should emulate South Africa.

Let me take this opportunity to congratulate Zimbabwean born South African-based rapper Nadia Nakai who stood above the rest at the awards as she wore a

body hugging Sauvemaxia dress.

Surprise, surprise, the elephant dress was a big hit in SA. Thembani took the dress to the SAMA’s and had a different model.

According to some sources, the dress caused a stir at the show with many loving it.

Now there is a debate as to whether it is about the model or if SA critics are being condescending. I reserve my comments.

Back to business, the SAMA Awards 2016 red carpet did not disappoint though, as South Africa’s biggest names stepped out in their finest glitz and glam.

Celebrities looked dazzling from short dresses to dapper suits. It was a fashion spectacle on the red carpet.

South African television personnel Boitumelo Thulo, aka “Boity” wore a sexy sheer sequined Quiteria and George blue number, which stirred up a lot of controversy after some people speculated that Boity had a wardrobe malfunction.

Now the question is whether she went commando and flashed the world or if it is just a shadow that fell on the wrong place at the wrong time.

Of course fashionistas will understand that some gowns are meant to be worn sans underwear as the lines of inner garments will ruin the look of your designer dress. But Boity says she was a victim of software miscreants.

The star slammed those she deemed as her haters for posting that picture.

“I mean, it was so clearly photo-shopped, anyone can see that. I would never wear a dress that was so skimpy as to show my private part,” she said.

The dress designer, Quiteria Kekana of Quiteria and George, said they stood by their design.

“There was no wardrobe malfunction. That was a couture gown that was hand-made and took about two weeks to complete.

Obviously, one cannot ensure that certain mistakes will not happen, but that was not the case with Boity. It was just people being malicious,” he said.

Though it wasn’t enough Busisiwe Thwala, known as Cici, wore a revealing Scalo gown with cutouts, that almost showed off her full behind on the red carpet, much to the crowd’s chagrin.

Asked how she felt about it, Cici said she was not worried about it.

“I have a great body to pull off this dress, as well as great skin, so if I feel comfortable in what I am wearing, that’s all that matters.”

Pearl Thusi also nearly had a nipple slip out of her Rubicon dress on the red carpet.

5. Nadia Nakai — Rapper Nadia Nakai oozed total bombshell in a cleavage-baring Sauvemaxia dress, with some high-voltage sexy slits.

6. Pearl Modiadie — Pearl Modiadie was red hot in a longsleeve Cinnel crimson column gown.

7. Lerato Kganyago — Live AMP presenter Lerato Kganyago was a regal beauty in a longsleeve gold embellished Quiteria and George number.

8. Nomzamo Mbatha — Isibaya actress Nomzamo Mbatha kept it simple and elegant in a creamy Orapeleng Modutle dress.

9. Thando Thabethe — Generations: The Legacy screen siren Thando Thabethe donned a blush-toned Quiteria & George floral appliqué gown.

10. Boity — Rocking shoulder-length ‘do, starlet Boity flaunted some daring skin in a sheer Quiteria & George dress.
