Yesterday, social media was flooded with rumours claiming that prominent Bulawayo businessman Brian Samuriwo, popularly known as “Sambhida” had passed away.

This speculation followed a car accident in the early hours along Luveve Road near the Total Garage in Bulawayo.

According to reports, a vehicle initially struck a donkey on the road, creating an accident scene. When Samuriwo arrived, he failed to see the already-hit donkey and, unfortunately, drove over it again. This caused his car to swerve off the road, landing in a roadside trench.

In an interview, Samuriwo confirmed that he was unharmed.

“I can confirm that I was involved in a road accident early yesterday morning. The scene was already an accident site when I arrived. I unknowingly drove over a donkey that had been hit by another vehicle, which caused my car to veer off the road into a trench.

“Like anyone in an accident, I panicked and was taken to Mater Dei Hospital, but I was discharged after a few hours with no injuries or issues,” he explained.

Samuriwo mentioned that after his car, two other vehicles, including an ambulance, also ran over the donkey.

Despite the brief scare, Samuriwo who runs the popular KoSamuriwo Pub & Grill in the city’s Luveve suburb is back on his feet and resuming business as usual.
