PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has renewed calls for national unity, urging Zimbabweans from different provinces to embrace one another as one people and desist from looking down upon communities from other parts of the country.
The President said the Second Republic’s Devolution and Decentralisation Agenda was ensuring that no province or community was left behind in the country’s development, while the rotational hosting of the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo was helping to cement national cohesion.
Addressing thousands of people during the official opening of the 19th edition of the tourism expo here yesterday, President Mnangagwa said Zimbabweans should celebrate the diversity of their provinces while recognising their common national identity.
“Under Zanu PF leadership, no place will be left behind.
“Imi kuno kuMasvingo, musafa makazvidza vokuMount Darwin, vokuMount Darwin musafa makazvidza vekuMat South, vekuMat South, Mash Central, tese tiri munyika imwe, tiri mhuri imwe,” he said amid thunderous applause.
The President’s remarks dovetail with Government’s deliberate policy of taking national events and development programmes to different provinces, allowing communities to showcase their unique cultural, tourism and economic assets.
The rotational hosting of Sanganai, in particular, has emerged as a platform for bringing Zimbabweans together while spreading the economic benefits of the country’s premier tourism showcase beyond its traditional host city.
After being held in Bulawayo for several years, the expo moved to Mutare in 2025 before coming to Masvingo this year, with Government maintaining that the changes are part of the broader devolution thrust.
The President’s call for unity comes as Government intensifies efforts to ensure that devolution translates into tangible economic opportunities for communities, with tourism identified as one of the sectors capable of driving inclusive growth.
The expo is not only serving as a marketplace for tourism products, but also as a national platform for strengthening Zimbabweans’ appreciation of each province and its contribution to the country’s development.
