SEASONED coach Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera has teamed up with long-time friend Newsome Mutema to capitalise on the school holidays and hold a training camp for young footballers at Alex Sports Club in the capital.
Saruchera, famed for his long on-and-off spells as Black Rhinos coach, is currently in charge of another army side Cranborne Bullets.
Mutema is the current Coaches Union of Zimbabwe secretary-general and a rising young football coach in the country.
During the course, which began on Monday and is scheduled to end on August 31, the duo will also use a host of experts to educate the young players against drug abuse and skills development.
Mutema indicated that the enrolment of more than 50 youngsters, aged between 9 and 19, will help develop their skills.
“This programme is there to help develop our young players before they enter into bigger adventures,” said Mutema.
“The aim is to create proper training for the kids since professional coaches are too busy to concentrate on them.
“We have created this clinic not only for the physical fitness of the body, but for the psychological, tactical and technical fitness.
“We are trying to develop a generation of young talented all-rounders, teaching them about doping and career pathways as well.
“It is also a relief that we have other experts to help us in the programme including Bigboy Mawiwi, Michael Ngore and Lamber Likande who will help us.”
The girl child has not been forgotten either as they are expected to join the clinic next week.
Yesterday, scores of young footballers attended the training camp.
