TELONE have announced the departure of coach, Saul Chaminuka after a series of poor results.
Chaminuka’s future at the Gweru side had been a subject of discussion for the past two weeks.
However, it appears the club’s demise in the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup where they lost to Central Region Soccer League side Blanket Mine was the last straw.
“TelOne Football Club and Head Coach Saul Chaminuka have mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately, following strategic discussions between both parties.
“The club extends its sincere gratitude to Coach Chaminuka for his service to the team. We wish him the very best
in his future endeavors,” reads a short statement from the club.
The veteran gaffer joined the Wifi boys in May replacing Herbert Maruwa.
His task was to help the team escape relegation but after 16 league games in charge, Chaminuka only managed to collect 14 points.
This has prompted those in charge at the telecoms side to take action and make the necessary changes with eight matches before the season ends.
Former warriors forward, Joel Luphahla is expected to take over as the new coach.
The former Simba Bhora, FC Platinum coach has his work cut out, he has the ominous task of saving the club from relegation.
TelOne needs at least six wins from the last eight games to stand a chance of surviving the chop.
