DYNAMOS midfielder Gift Saunyama says the Glamour Boys are motivated ahead of their big clash against champions FC Platinum at Rufaro tomorrow.
The midfielder believes the Harare giants, who had made a false start to their campaign this season, are back on track after winning three of their last four league games.
“It’s a game that we are looking forward to win, the way we have performed in the last few games is motivating.
“So we are going into the weekend more confident. Of course, it’s not going to be easy against a team like FC Platinum, but we are up for it.
“The mood in camp is very high. You know, when you win games, it’s heads up. Everyone is happy and everyone is looking to win the next game.
“I think it’s key that we remain positive, especially after that slow start. We needed a win to spark the morale so that we keep on being positive,” said Saunyama.
DeMbare are now under the tutelage of Biggie Zuze, who was given the reins on an interim basis, following the sacking of Lloyd Mutasa last week.
Zuze began his tenure with a 1-0 win away at Bulawayo City last Sunday.
There is renewed hope in the DeMbare camp, but the players have not lost sight of the challenges that lie in front of them.
Their opponents — FC Platinum — have made a solid start this year and are second on the log standings, with DeMbare a distant eighth.
“To be fair FC Platinum are a strong team with good players and good coaches. They beat us home and away last year and it’s actually a challenge for us to turn things around.
“But we are Dynamos, we go out there with the confidence that we are the big boys.
“I know it’s a bit difficult to believe, but we are still aiming to play a part in the championship race. Dynamos are slow starters now and again, but when we start to win games I believe we will go all the way,” said Saunyama.
The midfielder has just returned from a long-term injury.
“My injury affected me so much. I ended the season injured last year, I think I am now 100 percent okay and getting a little bit of game time.
“I am getting there and hoping that going forward I will get more opportunities to play,” said Saunyama.
FC Platinum forward, Rodwell Chinyengetere, has rallied the platinum miners to maintain their dominance over DeMbare after beating the Harare giants back-to-back in the last two seasons.
The reigning Soccer Star of the Year said playing Dynamos is a major motivation for many players in the league.
“This game is a motivational game for us, playing against Dynamos despite their previous results, just motivates you.
“We are prepared and raring to go, we respect them, but we want points from them.
“I wanted to come back and play this game, playing against Dynamos is what every player wants to do and definitely I am prepared to play them.
“Like what the coach (Norman Mapeza) said, Dynamos have a new coach and the game will not be an easy one, but we will try our best and do our best.
“The way you prepare going into the match gives you confidence, we have prepared well for the match and the way you prepare is the way you play in games,” said Chinyengetere.
