Vengai Sava (26) of 31 Rusero Road in Zengeza 1 appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Don Ndirowei who remanded him out of custody to April 15 on US$50 bail.
The State, led by prosecutor Ms Vernacia Mtake, alleges sometime in January 2006, Sava joined the City of Harare and was assigned as a municipal patrolman.
On December 1 in 2007, he allegedly misrepresented to the City of Harare that a doctor issued him with two months sick leave.
After the expiry of the sick leave, he did not turn up for work and this prompted the City of Harare to conduct some investigations, it is alleged.
It was allegedly established that he had joined the NRZ on December in 2007.
He neither notified nor resigned from the City of Harare, it is alleged.
He reportedly continued receiving salaries to August 2008 and at the same time receiving remuneration from his new employer, the NRZ.
At the end of 2010, Sava had claimed salaries from the City of Harare to the tune of US$10 000, the court heard.
Investigations by the Superintendent responsible for Administration and personnel revealed the malpractice, prompting Sava’s arrest.
