A DIRECTOR at Bible Temple Primary School in Waterfalls, Harare, Christopher Kwagwamba, has appeared in court on allegations of embezzling school funds amounting to US$27 500.
Kwagwamba faces charges of theft of trust property and was granted US$500 bail by Harare provincial magistrate Ms Ruth Moyo. He is expected to return to court on January 6 next year.
The complainant in the case is Bible Temple Primary School, represented by fellow school director Justice Muskwe.
According to the State, between 2021 and June 30, 2025, Kwagwamba received various amounts of money from an accomplice, Ms Julia Gorogodo, who served as the school administrator and is currently at large.
The money was handed over to Kwagwamba for safekeeping but was allegedly misappropriated.
An audit conducted by Kreston Zimbabwe on September 16, 2025, revealed that Kwagwamba had converted the funds, totaling US$27 500, to his personal use.
Following the audit findings, a police report was filed.
Investigations led to Kwagwamba’s arrest on December 10, 2025. During questioning, he claimed that US$8 500 of the missing funds was still in his possession and being held in trust by his lawyers, Nokuthula Masango Legal Practitioners.
However, the total stolen amount remains US$27 500 and nothing has been recovered to date.
