TWO pupils on Friday showcased their knowledge in Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) skills during an anti-drug awareness campaign held at David Livingstone Primary School.
The unidentified kids were behind the engineering of the sound system where Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) brought inmates, which included a choral group and drug and substance abuse convicts.
ZPCS national spokesperson Superintendent Meya Khanyezi, hailed the kids for their skills and urged parents and guardians to guard children jealously from committing crime.
“We have been pleased with David Livingstone Primary School pupils and their teachers,” said Supt Kanyezi.
“Special mention goes to the kids who were behind the sound system.
“It is pleasing to note that we have children with skills in ICT.
“We want our children to continue with their education and be protected from drug and substance abuse that has left several pupils failing to attend lessons.”
Khanyezi added:
“We urge parents and guardians to jealously guard their children against being lured into drug and substance abuse and closely monitor their behaviours.
“We came here to help school children know the dangers of drugs and substance abuse and to tell them that anyone, including celebrities like Mai TT, can be arrested for various criminal offences.
“Thank you for accepting prison inmates in your school-yard for their testimonies and sharing their experiences in prison that separated them from their families.”
