A RUWA man was on Sunday arrested for raping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl.
Timothy Tito, of Solomio Park, was reported to have invited his victim to his sister’s home.
His sister was not at home.
Upon arrival, Timothy took her to the toilet and raped her once, without protection, sometime in April.
The minor returned home and did not disclose the matter to anyone.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said the matter came to light last week when the minor’s mother suspected that she was pregnant.
“Police arrested a Ruwa man for rape,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Complainant’s mother asked her and she narrated the matter.
“Complainant was referred to hospital for a medical examination,” he said.
In another case, Insp Chakanza confirmed an attempted rape of a 13 year-old Waterfalls girl by her stepfather Tapiwa Manyuwa.
“On Sunday, at around 0500 hours, the complainant was asleep in her bedroom when the accused person entered the room and invited the complainant into his room where he was sleeping.
“The accused person pulled the complainant into his bedroom, taking advantage that the complainant’s mother had gone to Mbare Musika, for her routine vending.
“He undressed the minor and when he was about to rape her, a knock on the door interrupted the accused person who then released the complainant. The complainant narrated the whole story to her mother when she returned from work.
“The suspect is on the run,” said Insp Chakanza.
