School owner besieged…Ex wife forces early closure of school

LIFE has suddenly become hell-on-earth for the founding director and owner of a popular Rusape private school whose former wife is allegedly working overtime to ensure the institute is closed. His ex is also employing all tactics in the book to frustrate his efforts to move on with life. Narrating his ordeal to The Weekender on Tuesday, Watermark director, Barnabas Nemaire, poured his emotions out as he bemoaned his ex wife’s efforts to “destroy” his life and siphon cash from him to the last cent.

Apparently, the ex wife Victoria Nemaire nee Tsunganaka of Number 593 Jacaranda, Rusape has six children with him and, for years, the two have endured a tempestuous relationship leading to their separation and the subsequent ongoing divorce court settlement.

Nemaire, who narrated the history of his relationship, told The Weekender that Watermark School had to be closed early as Tsunganaka is throwing spanners in the works. “I am in a quandary over the behaviour of my former wife. As we speak the school was closed early on Saturday (November 15) simply because of her actions. The good thing is that we had already finished exams.

“She has done everything, moved from one office to another, trying to get that school closed just as a way of fixing me. Every other document to vindicate that the school is properly registered is there but somehow she remains relentless in trying to tarnish my image and that of the school.

“We parted ways way back but she cannot content with me moving ahead with my life. She has even gone to the extent of trying to interfere with my private relationship after I served her with formal divorce papers.

“I married her around 1990 and we have six children. I was a teacher and she was a housewife. I tried to get her in school, enrolling her at a boarding school in Chipinge but somehow it was not in her as she dismally failed to succeed.

“I then roped her in to help with some administrative work after I had managed to establish Watermark School and I think that was the greatest mistake I did. She started stealing money and as we speak there is a pending case with police over $8 000 she illegally took from the school. In fact, the figure was bigger but we pegged it at $8 000 for accounting purposes.

“She addresses parents misinforming them about the goings on at the school. She even went to the Ministry of Education in her efforts to get the school closed,” said Nemaire. Nemaire told this publication that his former wife tried in vain to claim for $17 000 per month maintenance.

“You might also need to be aware that this woman has tried to claim $18 000 maintenance from me but the court shot down her claims. She has since launched yet another bid to have me pay $8 000 per month but this is as clear as day that it’s the work of a gold digger. $8 000 for what? We have six children, three of them above 18. Those still in school I am taking care of. She wants to destroy my life and refuse me the chance to move on,” he said. However, Victoria dismissed most of her former husband’s allegations saying she is the one who has been victimised.

“Things have been going on well until he started running the school with his girlfriend. I never stole any money since I was not the only one who worked in the office. Those are blatant lies. I was actually a co-director since we started the school together. I have never beaten him but he is actually the one who beat me and that is why I won a protection order against him. On that occasion he had lied to the police that I had beaten him and dragged his private parts.

“I am told that the school has since been closed because they run out of food. I think the girlfriend has just been milking the man,” she said.
