Cde Didymus Mutasa facilitated the donation after the school won the Secretary’s Bell for excelling in academic and sporting fields.
“We excelled in various fields this year and we are very grateful for the donation we have received from the President,” the school’s headmistress, Mrs Mervis Chofamba, said.
The school, which has an enrolment of 1 345 pupils, had only 12 computers prior to the donation.
The school’s head girl, Linda Sakurira, could not hide her joy as she expressed gratitude on behalf of other pupils. “I would like to say a special thank you to the President for this special gift to us. May God bless you,” she said.
President Mugabe who was in a jovial mood said he hoped the computers would be put to good use. “I hope you will use them well. When we come to Rusape I would want to see how you will be using them,” he said.
The accessories included speakers, blank compact discs, USB cables and seven colour monitors.
President Mugabe has distributed thousands of computers to primary and secondary schools countrywide as part of his computerisation programme. Government has also embarked on an e-learning programme that President Mugabe launched early this year.
