Copac yet to deliberate on conference submissions

Addressing journalists in Harare yesterday, Copac co-chairpersons said they have only compiled a report of the conference without deliberating on the submissions, among them Zanu-PF amendments to draft constitution.
“Copac will now present the report of the Second All-Stakeholders’ Conference to the management committee,” said Mr Edward Mkhosi (MDC) while reading the statement on behalf of his counterparts Cde Paul Mangwana (Zanu-PF) and Mr Innocent Gonese, who was standing in for Mr Douglas Mwonzora (MDC-T).
“The input of this committee to the process so far has been invaluable. Following the submission of this report to the committee, the select committee shall meet to resolve the disagreed issues.”
Cde Mangwana said after tabling the report to the management committee, the select committee would then consider submissions from the Second Stakeholders’ Conference.
Mr Gonese said the management committee’s role in resolving disputes was invaluable.
Mr Mkhosi said the report to be tabled before the management committee had four sections.
He said the report would have an analysis of the conference and the terms of reference that guided delegates at the conference.
It will also contain a section of all the areas where delegates did not recommend any changes to the draft.
The other section contains areas where recommendations for change to the draft were made.

The management committee is expected to resolve any issues from the Second All-Stakeholders’ Conference that Copac would have failed to resolve.
If that fails, principals will then personally deal with the disagreed issues to come up with a way forward.
