INFORMATION, Communication and Technology (ICT) lessons have been stopped due to vandalism of an electricity power transformer at Mupandira Primary School.
ICT lessons have not been conducted since January this year and teachers have resorted to firewood for lighting.
Community headman, Elisha Chikowore, told H-Metro the unavailability of electricity was negatively affecting school lessons and a clinic and he was now appealing for help.
“We are appealing to stakeholders, as well as the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority, to help us in replacing a vandalised transformer,” said Headman Chikowore.
“Children’s ICT lessons have been affected and teachers have turned to forests for firewood, cutting some trees.
“A number of lessons have been heavily affected in this era where technology is the centre for learning.
“We have been holding meetings with our ward councillor and the headmaster to find ways of getting support in addressing this,” he said.
A 50KVA transformer costs over US$4 000 and ZESA has been failing to replace a number of vandalised transformers in several areas.
