Each province came out with the top four schools that will participate in the national finals to be produced and aired by ZBCTV in August.
Of the 60 points that were potentially attainable in a session of 15 questions worth three points each, Mzingwane High School in Matabeleland South scored the highest with 53 points, followed by Goromonzi High School in Mashonaland East with 52 points and Howard High in Mashonaland Central with 51 points.
Participating students across the country have welcomed the revival of televised high schools’ quiz which was last aired in 2000.
According to research by the Book of African Records, high schools’ quiz was the third most watched programme on Zimbabwe television, after the main news bulletin and the musical “Mutinhimira Wemimhanzi/Ezomgido”.
“We are glad that once again educative entertainment for viewers through senior level quiz is back.
“The content of the sessions, which are mainly biased towards Africa, is helping to create and spread new knowledge on Zimbabwe and Africa, which is the mission of the Book of African Records” said Errol Muzawazi, editor-in-chief of the Book of African Records.
