THE Ingwebu Breweries National Association of Primary Heads (Naph) inter-district soccer finals for Matabeleland North that were supposed to be held tomorrow at Jotsholo Primary School have been postponed to the first week of next term. This was due to the campaign programme of President Mugabe who will be in Lupane tomorrow.

“We have put our finals on hold due to the election programme which is in full swing. Initially we wanted to have the finals on 9 August but our sponsors, Ingwebu Breweries advised otherwise as they felt some pupils will lose out as it will be during schools holiday,” said Naph Matabeleland North chairperson Charles Ndiweni.

Ingwebu Breweries general manager and spokesman Nkosana Ndlovu confirmed the postponement of the Matabeleland provincial finals.

“The games are off for Matabeleland North and Bulawayo provincial finals which were supposed to be held yesterday, will now be held this coming Monday at Induba Primary School,” said Ndlovu. The Bulawayo provincial finals were moved because of the Naph national ball games finals that started in Kwekwe yesterday and end today.

Seven districts from Matabeleland North are expected to fight for a place to represent the province at the national finals set for the White City Stadium in Bulawayo on the second week of next term.

Mahlothova Primary School from Umguza district represented the province during national finals held at Pelandaba Stadium in Gwanda last year. Hwange, Binga, Bubi, Lupane, Tsholotsho, Nkayi and Umguza make up the seven districts in the province.
