DIVERSIFIED agro-industrial concern, Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited, plans to set up a 564 kilowatts solar power plant for its factory in Beitbridge, Matabeleland South province.

In a public notice issued today, the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) said it has received an application for the planned project by Schweppes Zimbabwe from Distributed Power Africa (Private) Limited.

“Zeta-Jones has received an application from Distributed Power Africa (Private) Limited for Schweppes Zimbabwe to construct, own, operate and maintain a 564kW solar photovoltaic power plant situated at Schweppes Beitbridge Juicing Factory in Beitbridge in Matabeleland South province,” it said.

The giant agro-processing firm intends to generate power from the proposed solar plant for its own consumption. The project will be connected to the grid though Mazunga 33/11kV substation.

“The license application by Schweppes Zimbabwe was done in terms of the provisions of Sections 42 and 46 of the Electricity Act (Chapter 13:19),” said the regulator.

“Any person desiring to make representations on this application for a generation license as advertised may, within 14 days from the last day of this publication which expires on 5 November 2021, lodge a written representation with Zera.” -@SikhulekelaniM1
