BUSINESSMAN Scott Sakupwanya says there is no substitute for teamwork and innovation in the pursuit of excellence and profitability in business.
The Better Brands boss, who is into mining and transport, was speaking at a ceremony, organised by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Manicaland branch, where he won the Businessman of the Year award.
“I humbly express my profound joy and gratitude for recognising my efforts and naming me the Businessman of the Year in the Manicaland region,” he said, in a speech read on his behalf.
“It goes without saying that this level of achievement is accompanied by hard work, long nights and a strong will to succeed.
“I am a man from a humble background and all that I have attained is a result of spirited determination and God’s grace.
“Having said this, I would like to thank the Lord for His continuous favour and grace upon my life.
“Being in business, I am supported by a dedicated team that follows through my vision and so may I appreciate all the Better Brands employees for their diligent efforts in establishing the brand.
“The journey is never easy and we have managed to rise above adversity and overcome it.”
He urged fellow entrepreneurs to be innovative.
“In today’s dynamic business landscape, one needs to be relentless in pursuit of excellence.
“It requires us to adapt to emerging technologies, embrace diversity, and navigate the complexities of an interconnected global economy.

“As a businessman, I have always strived to embody these qualities, continually pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
“However, with success comes responsibility.
“It is our duty in the business sector to not only achieve financial success but also contribute to the development of society.”
A philanthropist in his own right, Sakupwanya urged fellow businessmen to give back to their communities.
“We must strive to create systemic sustainable enterprises that uplift communities and fulfil financial inclusion, respect cultures and invest in innovative environmental preservation while fostering inclusivity.
“By integrating social and environmental considerations into our business practices, we can create a positive impact that extends far beyond the boardroom.
“As I celebrate tonight, I am reminded that this award is a stepping stone to greater achievements.
“Colleagues, let us remain steadfast in our pursuit for excellence, we must not settle for mediocrity and always strive to make a difference.”
He added: “To the aspiring entrepreneurs and future business leaders, I encourage you to pursue your dreams, believe in yourselves, and be bold enough to take risks.
“To my family, thank you for enduring with me and clearly winning with me.
“May we continue to inspire and cultivate robust business strategies that will contribute to the development of our beautiful nation and bring positive change worldwide.”
