Scott Vincent inspires Tech golf team

SCOTT Vincent played a major role as his Virginia Tech golf team finished second in the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate over the weekend. The senior from Harare carded a three-round total of nine-under 207 and fell one stroke behind Ben Griffin of North Carolina as an individual.
Vincent shot a six-under 66 in the first round, the best round of the first day.

He followed that with a three-under 69 on Saturday afternoon before posting an even-par 72 on Sunday.

The Virginia Tech men’s golf team posted a three-round total of three-under-par 861 and finished second at the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate on Sunday afternoon.

The tournament was played at the 7,245-yard, par 72 Grandover Resort East Course in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Hokies led the tournament after Saturday morning’s opening round, when they carded a two-under-par 286.

Tech bettered that by one stroke in the afternoon round, recording a three-under-par 285 and were second to North Carolina by three strokes.

Tech shot a two-over-par 290 on Sunday for the second place finish.
