AMBITIOUS Scottland registered the biggest win of the season so far with a 7-0 drubbing of  Norton Community in a Matchday 33 fixture of the Northern Region Soccer League at Rufaro yesterday.

On the other hand, leaders MWOS were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Trojan Stars in Norton, while third-placed Black Rhinos left it late to beat CCLEE Mhangura 2-1.

Norton Community, who played with 10 men for about an hour, almost took the lead in the second minute through Jeremiah Makangaira.

However, it was Jacob Nyakope who put Scottland ahead in the lead in the ninth minute with a well-connected goal.

Scottland continued to dominate the game as Leeroy Mavhunga scored the second goal in the 20th minute while Allan Gahadzikwa made it 3-0 in the 22nd minute.

The game took another turn when the Norton goalkeeper, Brandon Bere was red-carded for fouling Cleopas Dube on the edge of the box in the 24th minute, leaving his team to fight with 10 men.

Ronald Pfumbidzai scored the fourth goal for Scottland in the 31st minute from the resultant free kick.

Norton Community struggled to defend against Scottland’s relentless attacks. Denver Mukamba scored the fifth goal for Scottland just before the halftime whistle.

The second half saw both teams making tactical adjustments, but it was Cleopas Dube who scored the sixth goal in the 70th minute before substitute King Nadolo sealed the victory for Scottland in the 75th minute.

Despite Norton Community having a bad day in the office, their forward Jeremiah Makangira was awarded his US$200 prize for being the top goalscorer for September.

Makangira scored four goals in the month.

Meanwhile, Scottland coach, Genesis Mangombe said he was very happy with winning by a big margin.

“I am happy with winning with a big margin, and also not to concede which is very positive. The margin is very important for the goal difference,” he said.
