Not even a third coach change in 11 games could bring an immediate change of fortunes for Castle Lager Premier Soccer League newboys Agama.

The Mt Darwin side, parted ways with veteran coach Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe on Monday afternoon.

Jongwe became the third coach to leave Agama after Paul “Popopo’’ Chimaizeni and ex-Harare City gaffer Mark Mathe.

Still, a maiden top-flight victory remains elusive for Agama, who anchor the 18-team long table and have the unwanted record of being the only side in the elite league still to taste the sweet sense of victory.

Yesterday, Agama received champions Scottland at Wadzanai in Shamva, and they still came a cropper against Norman Mapeza’s men.

Victory also left Mapeza a relieved man after a spate of frustrating draws that sandwiched defeat by Simba Bhora at Rufaro.

Scottland’s win came from a goal each by Tymon Machope and skipper Walter Musona in the first half.

Both players have always made Wadzanai their happy hunting ground since their days at Simba Bhora, whom they helped to the 2024 championship title.

Grey Kufandada pulled one back for Agama early in the second half, but Scottland were in no mood to draw another game.

Instead, the win settled the nerves for defending champions Scottland, who went into the encounter with just one win in six matches.

The champions took their points tally to 21 and five behind log leaders CAPS United, who were held 2-2 by MWOS at Rufaro.

Mapeza noted some improvement in tactical discipline by his champions in yesterday’s game but reckons they still need to do more to perfect their craft.
