SCOTTLAND FC have emerged as the undisputed kings of social media among Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clubs, boasting the biggest Facebook following in the country with an impressive 282 000 followers.
The ambitious Harare side sits comfortably at the top of the Facebook rankings, underlining their rapidly growing popularity on and off the pitch. Their strong digital presence reflects the club’s recent success, high-profile signings and an ever-expanding fan base.
Traditional local football giants Highlanders occupy second place with 227 000 followers, proving that Bosso remain one of Zimbabwe’s most passionately supported clubs despite fierce competition from newer teams.
Former champions CAPS United complete the top three with 140 000 followers, while Simba Bhora (115 000) and Hardrock FC (113 000) round off the top five after making significant strides in attracting supporters online.
MWOS FC continue to build their brand, sitting sixth with 95 000 followers, ahead of FC Platinum on 92 000.
One of the biggest surprises is Dynamos, one of Zimbabwe’s most decorated clubs, who are eighth on the list with just 38 000 followers, trailing several newer Premier Soccer League outfits.
Bulawayo Chiefs (32 000), FC Hunters (28 000), Herentals College (26 000) and Chicken Inn (26 000) occupy the middle section of the standings, while Agama and TelOne are tied on 19 000 followers.
Ngezi Platinum Stars have 11 000 followers, with Manica Diamonds (7 100), ZPC Kariba (2 600) and Triangle United (1 800) completing the list.
The figures highlight the growing importance of social media in modern football, where clubs use digital platforms not only to engage supporters but also to attract sponsors, market merchandise and strengthen their brands.
As competition intensifies both on the field and online, clubs are increasingly recognising that success in today’s game is measured not only by trophies and league points, but also by the size and engagement of their digital communities.
