CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League kings rolled their championship trophy through Harare yesterday in a parade that began with stumbles and ended with a burst of colour, revealing a club caught between the glow of a historic title and the turbulence of an unsettled off season.
The event was meant to start at 10am. Instead, fans watched the open top bus sit idle for more than two hours after it suffered mechanical problems.
The convoy finally pulled away just after midday, made a short sweep through the city centre, then pushed on to Rufaro in Mbare before finishing in Mabvuku.
The thin numbers told their own story. Only a small group of players turned up, with several key members away in the Warriors’ provisional Africa Cup of Nations camp.
The technical team stayed away as well after last week’s split between the club and title winning coach Tonderai Ndiraya and his staff. Club vice-chairman Musa Gwasira acknowledged the absent coach and his team when he addressed supporters, thanking them for steering Scottland to the 2025 Premier Soccer League crown and noting that their work remains part of the club’s journey.
For most of the morning the parade felt flat.
Then Mabvuku lifted it. Hundreds of residents filled the streets, many dressed in blue and white, singing and cheering as the trophy came into sight.
Top scorer Tymon Machope and Khama Billiat raised the silverware to a roar before the procession made its way to Mabvuku Number 1 Stadium.
At the ground, the players shifted from the regular team bus to the repaired open top bus and took part in short introductions before the celebrations wrapped up.
Scottland plan to continue marking their title with an awards ceremony in the coming weeks as they prepare for a new technical structure and a demanding 2026 season.
They are also set to make in their bow in the tougher CAF Champions League next year.
