REIGNING Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland are not just revamping their playing squad following the arrival of seasoned coach Norman Mapeza.

They have also undertaken an overhaul of their administrative systems.

And yesterday Mabviravira announced the appointment of Harare lawyer Everson Chatambudza as the new club chairman.

Chatambudza has until his Scottland appointment, been a long-serving chairman of Yadah Stars, who were, however, relegated from the Premiership at the end of last season.

Scottland have undertaken an overhaul of its executive leadership, appointing a new chairman and vice chairman while elevating its former top executives to the board.

Chatambudza takes over from Tonderai “Pound’’ Sakupwanaya who has been elevated to the club’s board of directors along with Musa Gwasira who was his deputy.

Long-serving Scottland team manager Tawanda Chidzidzi has been elevated into the vice-chairman’s position.

Scottland indicated that the reshuffle was aimed at retaining experienced hands for long-term strategic guidance.

“Scottland Football Club is pleased to announce important leadership changes as we continue strengthening the future of our club,” read part of a statement from the club.

The statement also expressed gratitude to Sakupwanya and Gwasira “for their outstanding service’’ and extended a warm welcome to Chatambudza and Chidzidzi.

“The restructuring indicates a strategic shift for the club as it aims to consolidate its leadership framework for future growth.”

Yesterday’s executive reshuffle, came a day after Scottland parted ways with youthful chief executive officer Ronald Moyo while it also emerged that some members of staff in the club secretariat were also jettisoned from the champions late yesterday.

Scottland have already put a number of players on the transfer market while bringing on board fresh blood.

They will be challenging for honours in the CAF Champions League, in which they will be making their debut.

Scottland are also hoping to launch a successful defence of the Premiership title.

  1. The whole exercise stinks to high heaven. Those in the know confirm the existence of a crisis and serious back-stabbings within Scottland management. It defies logic for a team like Scottland that has just won the championship in its first season to carry out such a major overhaul. It looks like they are starting from scratch again. Ndiraya might not be a good coach but he is way better than Mapeza. Why would a team that won the championship take on a person who led another team to relegation as chairman of the club? Does that make any sense? There are too many managers in the Scottland set up and only time will show what consequences this will bring.
