Scribe loses MDC name case

Chief Court Reporter
Journalist David Muzhuzha has lost his claim for defamation against Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC over the party’s 1999 name coinage, with the High Court ruling recently that he failed to prove his case against the opposition party.
Muzhuzha (46) filed a US$200 000 lawsuit in December 2011 claiming defamation from MDC-T’s refusal to acknowledge him as the person who coined its name. In a judgement made available recently, Justice Joseph Martin Mafusire found no merit in the case after Muzhuzha failed to challenge MDC-T’s application for absolution from the instance.
