SDA president to visit Zimbabwe

Dr Wilson will visit church members in Harare, Gweru and Bulawayo on Saturday where he will conduct preaching services.
He is also expected to officiate at the Solusi University’s graduation ceremony on Sunday.
Solusi University Council chairman and Zimbabwe Union Conference (ZUC) executive secretary Dr Richard Sithole said the purpose of Dr Wilson’s visit was to be guest speaker at the Solusi University graduation.

He will also be speaking to pastors and members of the church in Harare, Gweru and Bulawayo.
“Dr Wilson will, on Saturday, take the service in three parts of the country. In the morning he will be in Harare at the National Sports Stadium from 8am to 11am, then travel to Gweru at Ascot Stadium and take the service from 2pm to 4pm,” said Dr Sithole.

“His day will end in Bulawayo at Barbourfields Stadium from 5pm to 7pm where more than 20 000 congregants are expected to attend.”
Dr Sithole described the visit as historic and said the church felt honoured to have its world leader in the country.
He said the visit will boost the morale of the church in the country and enhance unity among churches in the world.

“The fact that the church’s world leader is coming to the country is a boost to the morale of church members.
“This visit enhances unity among SDA churches around the world,” said Dr Sithole.
He said Dr Wilson will address issues to do with the revival and reformation of Christians worldwide.

“Compromise has crept into the church. You can hardly see the difference between the church and the secular world.
“Looking at Christians in general there are cases in the church that involve divorce, suicide, slacking in reading of the Bible and teenage pregnancies as well as corruption. There is a need for Christians to go back to biblical teachings,” said Dr Sithole.

President of ZUC Pastor Evans Muvuti condemned homosexuality, saying the Bible clearly states that when God created heaven and earth he created a man and a woman.
“Our belief is based on the Bible. God created male and female. If you see yourself departing from this you are in direct violation of biblical principles,” said Pastor Muvuti.

The SDA church in Zimbabwe has a membership of 700 779.

The West Zimbabwe Conference, which Bulawayo falls under, has 204 870 congregants with the national headquarters situated in the city.
The church has three conferences — West, East and Central.
