THOUSANDS of Seventh Day Adventist Church members are expected to converge in Harare this month to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Lighthouse Ensemble.
As part of preparations for the grand celebration scheduled for September 20, the church yesterday hosted a five- and 10-kilometer fun run in Highlands.
The event, which drew participants of all ages, was designed to promote health awareness within communities.
Lighthouse Ensemble director (choir), Mr Nsandula Sinchuke, spoke of the church’s ongoing efforts to encourage healthy living as a means of fostering a productive and vibrant society.
“As Adventists, we believe a healthy community guarantees a productive workforce that contributes positively to the success of the country. This was our maiden fun run, and we are confident it will become an annual event to remind Zimbabweans of the importance of staying active and eating healthy. Promoting health reduces the burden on the country’s healthcare system,” said Mr Sinchuke.
Over the years, the Lighthouse Ensemble has made a significant impact in Zimbabwe by nurturing business leaders who have contributed immensely to the country’s development. The church has worked with the Government to drive national development.
Through initiatives like the Lighthouse Ensemble and the contributions of its members, the church has demonstrated its commitment to building a healthier, more prosperous Zimbabwe.
The upcoming anniversary celebration promises to reflect on these achievements while inspiring even greater contributions to the nation’s growth.
