HARARE is set to roar this Saturday as Shaun De Souza Rugby Academy (SDRA24) hosts its inaugural Community 10s Rugby Tournament at Old Hararians Sports Club.
Organised alongside the “Say No to Drugs” campaign and Cancer Awareness Month, it’s a celebration of community, health, and the unifying power of sport.
Over 280 young players from academies and clubs across Harare and surrounding areas will battle it out in U11 to U17 divisions. Teams like SDRA24, Dolphins, Little Giants, Genesis, Mother Patrick, and Crusaders are ready to show their flair on the field.
Running under the banner “From Grassroots to Greatness,” the tournament highlights the explosive growth of community rugby while educating, empowering, and uniting youth.
“Every match, every drill, every interaction reflects SDRA24’s mission to build discipline, teamwork, and life skills through rugby,” said a spokesperson for the academy.
For SDRA24, the Community 10s marks a major milestone in creating a structured rugby pathway for Zimbabwean youth. Since its founding, the academy has focused on developing both rugby talent and essential life skills, including resilience, respect, and teamwork.
The action kicks off at 8.30am and runs until 3pm. Entry is free for all, so fans can turn up and cheer the future stars of Zimbabwean rugby.
