Search for Mr and Miss Rural Zimbabwe Mat South province begins in Insiza

THE search for models to participate at this year’s Mr and Miss Rural Zimbabwe Matabeleland South province begins tomorrow in Insiza district.

The competition will be held at Chief Maduna’s homestead and will be an opener to other districts who are set to follow as they await to compete in the provincial finals to be held on September 6.

This comes as Matabeleland North province opened up the competition with the provincial finals being held last Saturday.

Mitchell Ngwenya from Lupane and Blessing Mpofu from Hwange were named Miss and Mr Rural Zimbabwe Matabeleland North respectively. Musawenkosi Nkala was crowned First Princess, with Thandolwenkosi Khanye named Second Princess. The First Prince title went to Mbongeni Hadebe from Mbembesi, while Mayibongwe, also from Mbembesi, was named Second Prince.

The pageant is this year being held under theme is “#Back to Natural Beauty”.

Other provincial finals will be held on June 28 (Mashonaland West), July 5 (Masvingo), July 12 (Manicaland), August 2 (Midlands), August 16 (Mashonaland East) and August 31 (Mashonaland Central).

The national finals launch will be held on September 20 in Harare before the national finals that are anticipated to be held at Binga Beach.

Mr and Miss Rural Zimbabwe founder Sipho “NaZoe” Mazibuko said the pageant is running smoothly and still in line in unleashing talent from the bushes.

“This is the first stop for Matabeleland South because that’s where I was born and bred. I was born at Filabusi Hospital, grew up in Dekezi and did my Primary school at Mapeume eZintabeni.

“The theme tells a story where we want people to accept the way they were when they were born by showing that you can be beautiful naturally without bleaching, BBL wigs, lashes or artificial nails,” she said.
