Members of apostolic sects have been applauded for overwhelmingly responding to the measles-rubella vaccination campaign, which saw more than 1,4 million children between 59 months and six years being covered.

Rubella, also known as three-day measles or German measles, is a contagious viral infection that manifests as a distinctive red rash.

This year’s vaccination campaign, which ended on September 27, targeted communities and groups which normally do not receive vaccinations due to religious beliefs or are inaccessible due to geography.

Director of Epidemiology and Disease Control at the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Dr Portia Manangazira, told The Sunday Mail that church leaders were doing a commendable job.
