Secular musician turns to gospel

New gospel kid on the block Admire Banda has released his debut album ‘‘Kufamba Nashe’’. Banda is a former secular musician who worked with the likes of Langton Deo of the Magetsi fame, Alexio Kawara and Betty Makaya during the urban grooves revolution at the turn of the millennium.The gospel artiste from Goromonzi said he started exploring gospel music upon receiving Christ eight years ago.
“As a teenager I developed a keen interest in music and I give glory to Christ for giving me the opportunity to serve him,” he said.

Through the inspiration of the word of God, Banda said he has written tracks such as “Panzvimbo Ye Minana” which dwells on the goodness of being in God’s presence all the time.

A promising hit, the track has an equally powerful message with another gem “Pakunamata” that is inspired by Christ’’s last prayers at Gethsmane before being crucified.

Banda’s songs are receiving considerable spins on local radio although there has been talk that he could be yet another Charles Charamba copy cat.
“I have admired Charles Charamba and for years and my music might have traces of this. However I’m not a copycat,” he said.

A follow up video for the six track album is coming soon.
Songs on the album include “Tobudamo”, “Tidzidzisei Kunamata”, “Buda Muguta” and “Zuva Renyu” and they tackle some of the challenges in the lives of.

“God always has solutions even before problems happen and we should all trust in him at all times.
At present Banda is touring various small towns and church functions in order to promote his album.
