Security guard found with mbanje

A SECURITY guard with a local college who was caught selling mbanje at the college’s campus risks spending 60 days in prison if he fails to pay $100 fine after he was convicted by a Mutare magistrate.

Senior magistrate, Mr Langton Mukwengi, ordered Luckson Gwara (33) to pay $100 fine by November 10 or go to prison for 60 days. Gwara, a security guard at Zimbabwe College of Forestry in Penhalonga had pleaded guilty to contravening Section 157(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.

Mr Andrew Motsi prosecuted. On October 29, Gwara was searched by a fellow security guard, Enos Smart Mwanza at the college’s main gate and was found in possession of 23 sachets of mbanje.
