Security guard impersonates police officer, demands bribe

A 38-year-old security guard escaped a five months jail term and will do 175 hours of community service after he was convicted of impersonating a police officer Peter Ndoma was arraigned before the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court.


The court heard that on February 19, Ndoma identified himself as a police officer at Senderayi Roundabout in Kwekwe.

He demanded US$3 from the informant who was loading passengers at an undesignated place.


The informant suspected that Ndoma was not a real police officer. He then alerted members of the public who assisted him in apprehending Ndoma.


They took him to Kwekwe Central Police Station where he was arrested.
