including the Vatican City State.
In legal parlance the demands are what lawyers would describe as “frivolous and vexatious” and Zanu-PF is right to dismiss them with the contempt that they deserve.
In their desperation to get into power, the MDC-T leaders are trying to alter all the natural systems of governance and turn Zimbabwe into a unique case of a country which does not have any sovereignty.
Nowhere in this world is there a powerless President as the one that the MDC-T is seeking to create as it seeks to remove one Robert Gabriel Mugabe from power whose cardinal sin was daring to stand up against colonial domination.
Every country in the world has a security establishment which bears full allegiance to the government of the day otherwise the spectre of military coups would be on the door steps of many countries.
Even in the so-called citadels of democracy in the United States and the United Kingdom, the head of state, who is also the commander-in-chief, appoints his/her trusted people to key military and other security establishments.
Whenever a new President gets into office in the US, the UK and any other European country, their first task is to appoint new people to key positions in defence, intelligence, foreign affairs and the central bank.
Nowhere in the world does a country have a “gentleman” for an army commander as that position requires one to wear combat fatigues in defence of national interests. Even the Vatican City State, the citadel of the Catholic Church and an internationally recognised sovereign entity, has an elaborate governance structure which includes a Gendarme of the Corps which answers to the State Authority.
Now, if the Vatican, an instrument of the independence of the Catholic Church from any earthly power, has a distinct organisational chart, one wonders what kind of a state the MDC-T wants Zimbabwe to become with its service chief not concerned when the country’s natural resources are being looted or when the peace is threatened. It is for this reason that Zimbabweans should reject the MDC-T in the forthcoming harmonised elections as it will take the country on suicidal experiments in its naivety and inexperience to govern.
With most of its officials still youths filled with whims and overwhelmed with power, the country will be taken over the precipice while the leaders revel in their new found glory where they will be womanising, revelling and gomandising.
What the MDC is simply trying to achieve is to weaken Zanu-PF through removing people with liberation war credentials from the security services and replace them with those without knowledge of the history of the country or those with a distorted one.
Preferably the MDC would have its own sons like former Rhodesian soldiers Giles Mutsekwa, Roy Bennett and Ian Kay in charge of key security institutions in order to safeguard the interests of their sponsors and handlers.
The MDC knows that keeping people with liberation credentials in key security establishments will frustrate its push to get into power as war veterans are highly indoctrinated and will not allow the country to slip back into the hands of the former colonisers. — New Ziana.
