Seed Co yesterday unveiled sponsorships for pupils at St Manocks Primary and Secondary schools, and Zimhungu Primary School.
At St Manocks schools, Seed Co will pay tuition for 20 students each year and in addition the company gave away uniforms for 12 students at Zimhungu, in Zaka district.
Seed Co’s public relations and communications manager, Ms Marjorie Mutemererwa, said the goal of the “Promoting Education” initiative was to assist vulnerable children, especially orphans.
“Most of the communities that are benefiting from this programme are from the rural areas, depicting Seed Co’s objective of cascading down and promoting the end user of our products.
“Our mandate is to transform the lives of the vulnerable, disadvantaged and orphaned children,” she said.
Ms Mutemererwa also urged teachers from these schools to instill confidence in these young ones, who tend to be psychologically affected by harsh circumstances.
Former St Manocks student Tinashe Muzvongi, who is currently a second year Geography and Environment studies student at the Midlands State University, and Rudo Musikavanhu from Kanyemba Secondary School who is now a first year Social Work student at the University of Zimbabwe gave testimonials during the event.
