LET’S take it to church!

Like many music greats the world over, Tawanda Mumanyi, better known as Seh Calaz, has his roots in gospel music.

His rise to fame is through Zimdancehall, a genre that has taken the country by storm but on a humble day he sings in church.

“I’m not just a Zimdancehall chanter, I also do gospel music and I sing at my church,” said Seh Calaz.

A member of Christ Embassy, he has performed at some of the church concerts and is billed for another concert at the church this weekend.

“What people do not know is that I am an active member of Christ Embassy. This weekend I will be performing alongside Flame B,” he added.

His spiritual side is stronger than his club version.

“I’m more of a spiritual artiste than a club version artiste which is why in most of my songs I advocate against drug abuse and injustices,” he said.

He has a mission and a vision.

“The goal is to reach out to a larger audience and not to limit myself to one particular audience,” he said.

Apart from being a musician he is very passionate about youth empowerment and a motivational speaker.

“I don’t only sing but I practise what I preach as well, I’m a motivation to many youngsters. I’m passionate about youth empowerment,” said Calaz.

On the Zimdancehall front he will be in Bulawayo on 5 April alongside Stonyeni hit maker Jah Signal and Bulawayo rapper Proud Of You.
