A BINGA man decided to take the motivational line: “If at first you don’t succeed; try, try, try again” to another level by claiming that he was a prophet and would unleash demons on a 12-year-old girl who had rejected his proposal before raping her.
Organic Matter Munkombwe (23) of Baba Village under Chief Saba in Binga proposed to the juvenile but she turned him down prompting him to employ treacherous means to win her heart.
It is alleged that sometime in August Munkombwe proposed to the teenager on three different occasions but was turned down.
However, on the third time, a lovestruck Munkombwe, after failing to woo her, decided to instil fear in the unsuspecting teenager by claiming that he was a prophet from God and if she continued rejecting him he would cast demons and bad luck on her.
Gripped with fear, she accepted his proposal and had sexual intercourse with him. However, the matter came to light when the girl’s grandmother noticed a sudden change in her behaviour and confronted her over it resulting in her narrating her ordeal.
The grandmother made a report to the police, leading to Munkombwe’s arrest. He is set to appear in court soon facing a charge of rape.
