In a dramatic turn of events, a self-styled prophet who was entrusted to cleanse a car of evil spirits, and later sold it, has been dragged to court charged with theft of trust property.

Tatenda Kabende, of Glen Norah, is expected to appear before magistrate Isheanesu Matova this afternoon to answer the allegations.

It is alleged that the complainant Christina Zevezai, of Nyika Bikita, gave her car worth US$8000 to Kabende which was to go through a cleansing process as he felt it was cursed with evil spirits.

He directed Zevezai to leave the car at his accomplice’s house in Waterfalls.

Zevezai sold the car without the owner’s consent.
