A 39-YEAR-OLD Mwenezi woman was on Monday arrested for buying and selling Command Agriculture inputs.
Geogina Mandizha was found in possession of 67 by 50kg bags of fertiliser at Tafara Secondary School Bus Stop.
In a statement, police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the suspect had bought the fertiliser in and around Mwenezi for resale in Mazowe.
“On Monday, ZRP Mwenezi swiftly reacted to a tip-off and arrested the suspect for unlawful possession of Command Agriculture inputs comprising 67 x 50kgs of fertilisers,” said Ass Comm Nyathi.
“The suspect was found in possession of 26 x 50 kgs of Superfert Calcium Ammonium Nitrate 27%N, 17 x 50 kgs of Superfet Cotton top Dressing Calcium Ammonium Nitrate 27%, 02 X 50 kgs of Superfet Compound D bulk blend and 22 Superfert Cotton bulk blend fertilizers,” he said.
In another unrelated case, Asst Comm Nyathi confirmed the arrest of Tichaona Zhanda (41) for illegal possession of firearms and suspected poaching.
Meat, from a buffalo suspected to have been poached in the Save Valley Conservancy in Bikita, was recovered hidden in a deep freezer, which was in the vehicle.
“On Monday, members of the police manning a security roadblock at the 86km peg along Chivhu-Roy Road arrested a suspect, who was driving a Toyota Revo, single cab vehicle,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.
“He was stopped at the checkpoint and was found with three firearms in the vehicle’s loading box namely, a Remington rifle 315463 with three rounds, CZ602ZKK rifle with two rounds and shotgun 12 bore with 18 rounds,” said Ass tComm Nyathi.
