Selmor Mtukudzi who recently returned from the US where she won an award in Africa Entertainment Awards will tonight be celebrating her achievement at Bar Rouge in the capital.

Selmor won the hottest single for her song “Nguva Yangu” ahead of other Africa’s finest including South Africa’s Zahara and Yemi Alade in the African Entertainment Awards held in the US where Chris Brown was crowned the best international artiste.

In an interview, Selmor said she is overwhelmed with the international recognition.

“When I went there I was just happy and content with the nomination and I never thought I was going to win. The award was an icing on the cake and I feel so honoured to have been recognised internationally,” she said.

She highlighted that she will be celebrating her achievement tonight and encouraged people to come in their numbers and celebrate with her.

“Tomorrow (today) is going to be one of my best performances since I will be celebrating the award and I am promising nothing but the best, so people must come in their numbers,” she said.

Meanwhile, Bar Rouge Entertainment manager Moses Matanda said they have decided to host the celebrations since the musician has managed to fly the country’s flag high.

“We feel that Selmor did us proud by bringing the award home and we just felt that we have to host her as we celebrate the award together.

“Our place attracts a mature crowd and Selmor’s music is for mature people so, we are expecting a memorable night,” he said.

Selmor (31) is well-known for her great hits including the winning track “Nguva Yangu” which is off her album entitled “Expression”. It was also nominated Song of the year in the National 2013 Arts Merits Awards (Nama).

Selmor is married to Tendai Manatsa whom she attributed her success to. She also received an arts category award with the Women Enterprise Conference held by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce early this year.
