IF not preparing food and serving it at functions Christine Sengwe (27) makes time for pool, a game she fell in love with five years ago.
A mother of two and a chef by profession sheas a tough cookie at the pool tables and Africa will soon find out.
Sengwe will captain the Zimbabwe womenas national team to do duty from 1-6 November in Kampala, Uganda.
To captain the team is some sort of arrival for her and sheas here to stay. With numerous international competitions under her belt, she smiles at being referred to as a a?Zimbabwe Internationala?.
a?It wonat be my first time to play outside the country. I have competed in South Africa as well. Whatas interesting is that in South Africa I was the only woman representing Zimbabwe. It was an exciting experience. It gave me the verve to prepare for Uganda. Iam hopeful we will do well,a? she said.
Too bad the tournament wonat be beamed on television for her family back home to cheer her. That moment where her husband and two children stay glued to the television set as she does what she knows best will remain imaginary.
However, they support her knowing that she travels with them in her mind.
a?My husband is very supportive, he actually comes to watch me play at some competitions. I also managed to introduce him to the game, now he is also a promising player,a? she said.
