Anxiety gripped Guruve on Thursday as residents thronged Mudhindo Business Centre from morning till dusk, anxiously awaiting for the arrival of suspected serial killer Anymore Zvitsva, who was believed to be returning under police escort for some indications.

Community members said Zvitsva was expected to point out two locations where they suspect some of his victims may have been buried in the yard of a mosque, under a spiny-leaved monkey orange tree (mutamba).

The development drew large crowds, with villagers hoping for long-awaited answers in a case that has shaken the area.

However, by the end of the day, Zvitsva had not arrived, and efforts to get official confirmation from national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi were unsuccessful.

Today, people are still milling around, hoping for the serial killer’s arrival.
