A SERIAL robber who broke into several homes at a gated community in Hogerty Hill appeared in court yesterday and was remanded in custody pending bail considerations.

John Chagwiza of Epworth was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Tapiwa Kuhudzai.

Prosecutors alleged that Chagwiza broke into Tanatswa Sigudu’s residence at Marydown estate in Hogerty Hill in the company of his accomplice, one Musa, who is at large.

They broke down the lounge door and gained entry into the house.

They woke Sigudu up and demanded cash and valuables, threatening to kill him with a screw driver if he refused.

In compliance, Sigudu handed over an iPhone 12 Pro cellphone, Huawei P40 Lite, HP Probook laptop and his father’s Dell laptop.

They attacked the other occupants of the house who screamed, prompting them to flee.

In the same gated complex, Chagwiza and his accomplice attacked Pamela Madzudzo in the dead of the night.

They demanded for cash and valuables and threatened to kill her.

The two stole various cellphones and fled from the scene.

In another count, Chagwiza broke into Keith Panashe Chikwanha’s residence at Liora Estate in Borrowdale.

They threatened Chikwanha with death before they tied him up with a laptop cable.

They stole US$2 700, two iPhones and an HP laptop.
