DESMOND Mhene is not one of the well-known people on the Dynamos’ coaching staff.
But, one thing that cannot be taken away from him is that his name is synonymous with success.
Mhene was part of Kalisto Pasuwa’s technical set-up, which claimed a four-peat between 2011 and 2014.
He followed Pasuwa to Malawi where he also helped him to win four league titles, working as his performance analyst, before returning home last season.
Mhene joined Dynamos earlier this campaign in the same capacity.
The Glamour Boys had failed to win any silverware since the departure of Pasuwa and his trusted lieutenant.
Now, Mhene has won silverware in his five seasons with the Glamour Boys.
Simba Bhora coach, Arthur Tutani, also revealed to Zimpapers Sport that Mhene assisted him to guide the club into the Premiership.
Mhene is currently juggling the jobs of performance analyst and team manager at Dynamos following the reassignment of Richard Chihoro.
“It feels good to win anything with Dynamos because it is a club which is used to winning,” he said.
“We were all relieved after the final whistle because this was our last chance to get something positive this season and the boys read the script well.
“I’m happy to be working with someone like (coach Genesis) Mangombe because he is someone who takes his time to listen to everyone who is around him.
“This is very key in my line of work because you need the coach to believe in what you are seeing.”
Mhene said he owes his success to Pasuwa and thanked the Dynamos leadership for giving him a soft landing.
“It’s not easy to find your way to Dynamos, it’s a big team and when someone takes you there, it’s something which should not be taken lightly.
“Pasuwa did well to introduce me to this stage and I’m forever grateful to him.
“I also want to thank the bosses of this club, it’s not easy for performance analysts as people are still trying to figure out the value we bring but Dynamos took that gamble,” he said.
