The servicing of residential stands on a 300-hectare piece of land allocated to youths here is now complete. A land developer, Causepun Investments, has sub-divided the land and numbering of the stands ended last Friday. Mutasa Rural District Council has also allocated 50 hectares towards the establishment of a youth village in Tsvingwe and the programme will be launched on Wednesday.

Buhera Rural District Council has also allocated 40ha at Birchenough Bridge Growth Point, while Chipinge Rural District Council availed 50ha to youths at Checheche Growth Point.

An additional 40ha were availed by Makoni Rural District Council for the same programme in Nyazura.

zanu-pf Manicaland provincial chairperson, Cde Mubuso Chinguno, confirmed the development and said they were fast tracking it.

He said they were expecting to allocate residential stands to all beneficiaries by year end.

Cde Chinguno said the stands would be given to youths for free in line with President Mugabe’s stance to empower them.

“We are happy with the pace with which this programme is being rolled out, he said. In Chipinge, a land developer has completed the servicing of the stands.

“The beneficiaries will pay a small amount of $30 per month for the next five years that would go towards water reticulation, roads provisions and sewer.”

Cde Chinguno said the new youth village would be the first of its kind in the country as land was set aside for the construction of high rising buildings.

“In our layout plan, we embraced President Mugabe’s call for building high rising buildings, he said. We are in the process of engaging financial institutions such as Old Mutual, CBZ and NSSA to come on board.”
